After-school support sessions in Year 11

Dear Parents/Carers,

As part of our extended school structured support programme for our Year 11 students this year, we have identified students who need to attend, from 3pm,to ensure they feel confident that they can achieve their full potential across all their subjects.

All students will be issued with an afterschool sessions student card, in assembly on Wednesday 15th March, to be kept safely.  Some cards will show the after-school session/s that the student must attend each week.  Some will be blank providing these students with a broader subject choice.  If there is a clash of subjects on certain days of the week, the students have been asked to speak to their teacher directly about co-ordinating the support sessions they attend.  Students are obviously free to attend as many other after-school sessions as they wish – all the sessions offered are shown on the card.  However, we would expect our Year 11 students to attend a minimum of 3 sessions per week.

Whilst we are offering a comprehensive after-school support programme to all students in Year 11, we are keen to ensure that students who really need to attend these sessions engage in this process, particularly at this crucial stage in Year 11.  Students will be awarded with an achievement point for each session they attend which will help to ensure they can attend the Prom by achieving the required number of points.

We would really appreciate your support to ensure that your son or daughter attends the after-school sessions which will help him or her to achieve their full potential in all of their subjects at the end of Year 11.  You can do this by checking their yellow card to see which sessions they are required to attend, and ensure they agree to do so on a weekly basis, as well as encouraging them to attend as many other sessions as possible.

Please do not hesitate to contact me, via email, if you have any questions.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs B Green
