Invitation To Sixth Form Induction 20th and 21st June

May 2017

Dear Students

We enjoyed meeting you at your interview in February and can confirm that we have reserved a place for you in our Sixth Form conditional upon you gaining the correct GCSE grades.

We are now writing to invite you to take part in our Sixth Form Induction programme. The two Induction events happen on Tuesday 20th and Wednesday 21st June and are very important days. The programme will start with a presentation in Gloucester Hall at 2 pm on Tuesday 20th June, which will be followed by a barbeque and social event organised by the Senior Students from 3-5.30pm. On the Wednesday you will be in for the whole day sampling lessons so need to be in school from 8.45 am to 3pm. In these sessions there will be opportunities to learn much more about the A Level and BTEC subjects you can study in both our school and The Clarendon Academy. You will also be able to find out about other opportunities that are available to John of Gaunt Sixth Form students. Just as importantly, there will be a chance to get to know students from other schools you will be with in the Sixth Form.

We will be expecting all potential Sixth Form students to attend on both of these days.

You should dress in smart, comfortable clothing that is in line with the Sixth Form dress code, which can be found on the school website at

If you travel by bus, you should use your normal school bus to travel to Trowbridge for the Induction Days. If you require a bus pass for next year, please contact Wiltshire County Council Education Transport Entitlement Team on 0300 4560100 or email

We will be inviting your parents to a meeting on September 12th at 7pm in order that they can also gain information about the opportunities and responsibilities presented at The John of Gaunt School. We hope that as many parents as possible will be able to attend. Meanwhile, if parents have any concerns at all, please feel free to contact us.

We look forward to meeting you again at Induction.

Yours sincerely
