Trowbridge Youth Parliament visit the Houses of Parliament

On Thursday 7th June the John of Gaunt’s representatives for the Trowbridge Youth Parliament, the chair and a member, went on a trip to the Houses of Parliament.

While in Parliament, the TYP members had a guided tour around the building, were able to sit in on a House of Commons debate regarding relations with Turkey as well as a House of Lords debate on equal opportunities in universities. They also had a class on the workings of the British Government, the powers of the monarchs, how laws are created and also had a discussion with our local MP, Dr Andrew Murrison.

After this trip our Trowbridge Youth Parliament reps will be standing down to make way for the next youth politicians but have said that they have thoroughly enjoyed being members and have valued the experience.
