We strive to give students an insight into the field of health & social care and to nurture the passion for this essential vocation. The equivalent of one in every 10 people in the UK work in this sector, with a high demand in our local area. We want to develop student knowledge and skill-set to meet these needs.

BTEC Tech Award Child Development
The subject covers the following topics:
Component 1 – Children’s Growth and Development
Component 2 – Learning Through Play
Component 3 – Supporting Children to Play, Learn and Develop
How is this course assessed?
Component 1 internally assessed in Year 9
Component 2 internally assessed in Year 10
Component 3 internally assessed in Year 11 and 2 hour examination
BTEC Tech Award in Health and Social Care
The subject covers the following content:
Component 1 – Human Lifespan Development
Component 2 – Health & Social Care Services and Values
Component 3 – Health & Well Being
How is this course assessed?
- You will complete 3 coursework tasks over the two years which will be based on real life situations and will assess you understanding of the topics covered.
- You will have 1 examination taken in February in year 11. It will last 1 hour and test your understanding of human lifespan and development.

BTEC Extended Certificate in Health and Social Care
